ASFI is a non-profit organization that aims to contribute to Africa’s research strides through
capacity building science and research. ASFI's vision is to raise the next generation of African
scientists with the right competencies to drive Africa’s developmental and transformational agenda
throughnovative scientific research. ASFI's mission is tostill excellence Africa’s science
through competence acquisition, capacity building, and career development, enabling African
scientists tocreasingly play an active role the continent's development through evidence-based
research. To achieve its goals, ASFI organizes regular research seminars and workshops, hands-on
research capacity-building training, mentoring programs, and other research activities.
Since 2023, ASFI is a member-based organization, with members from over 45 countries Africa. ASFI
aims to be the reference organization Africa training and continuous education, cross-sectoral
and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and mentoring. Putting all its activities together, ASFI aims
to serve as the most robust platform for African scientists to express themselves at the regional
and global levels scientific communication, education, and collaboration. Finally, ASFI aims to
serve as a bridge that connects scientists/researchers, policy makers, journalists, governments, the
private sector, and other non-profit organizations throughout Africa.

ASFIRJ's AIMS & SCOPE
ASFIRJ is the official journal of the African Science Frontiers Initiatives (ASFI). ASFIRJ is an online-only open access multidisciplinary journal. ASFIRJ thus aims to advance, impact and communicate research undertaken from all disciplines, both basic and applied research. Within the African scientific community, ASFIRJ aims to offer an unparalleled reach and an author-friendly approach scientific publishing - from manuscript submission through publication. Its overarching ambition is to be one of the leading research journals from Africa, globally competitive, with an unwavering emphasis on quality research and impact.
ASFIRJ is anternational journal, accepting contributions from all countries of the world.
ASFIRJ publishes original papers, expert reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses,
position papers, perspective papers, guidelines, protocols, data, editorials, news, field
stories, commentaries, research letters, and other paper types that foster scientific
communication. Articles published ASFIRJ are accepted solely on the basis of their
scientific merit and quality.

ASFIScholar aims to make learning, teaching, and collaboration seamless for African scholars. Open Access and Author Licensing
ASFIRJ uses the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license type for the works it publishes. Under this license type, authors agree to make their articles legally available to be reused for any purpose without permission or fees. In this case, anyone can copy, distribute, or reuse ASFIRJ articles, as long as the author and original source are properly cited.

Article Publication Fee
As an open access journal, all content published ASFIRJ are made freely available online and can be accessed by anyone anywhere the world, perpetually. There is no subscription cost to access its content. To achieve this goal, ASFIRJ charges modest article processing fees (APF) to submitting authors across the article types ASFIRJ publishes. The modest APF recognizes the challenges African scholars may face getting their papers published if higher fees are charged, many of them not having the required external funding to undertake their research. Thus, the APF are pegged to ensure publishing ASFIRJ is as affordable as possible for every African scholar. Members of the ASFI General Assembly receive up to 50% discount on the APF. To benefit from this, their membership must be up to date as the date of final acceptance of their manuscript.

Advertising Policy
ASFIRJ is committed to maintaining thetegrity,dependence, and transparency of its editorial processes. Any advertising associated with the journal must adhere to the following principles:
- Editorial Independence: Advertising has nofluence on editorial decisions. The acceptance, review, and publication of manuscripts are based solely on scientific merit, quality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions are madedependently of any commercial or financial considerations.
- Types of Advertising: ASFIRJ may consider advertisements that are relevant to the academic, scientific, and research community. These mayclude, but are not limited to, announcements of conferences, academic programs, research tools, publications, orstitutionalitiatives. Advertising that is misleading, unethical, discriminatory, or unrelated to the journal’s scope will not be accepted.
- Approval of Advertisements: All advertisements are subject to review and approval by the journal’s editorial office to ensure they meet the journal’s standards and ethical requirements.
- Separation from Editorial Content: Advertisements are clearly distinguished from editorial content and are presented a manner that avoids any confusion with peer-reviewed material. Advertising content will not be embedded within orfluence scholarly articles.
- Placement and Targeting: Advertisements displayed on the ASFIRJ website may be placed designated areas and are not linked to specific editorial content ordividual reader behavior. Where applicable, advertisements may be displayed randomly or based on general relevance to the journal’s audience, without compromising user privacy.
ASFIRJ reserves the right to decline or remove any advertisement that does not comply with this policy or that may undermine the journal’stegrity and reputation.
Archiving and Digital Preservation
ASFIRJ is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published scholarly content. As an online-only, open-access journal, ASFIRJ ensures that all articles remain permanently available to the global research community. To safeguard against data loss and to guarantee continued access the event that the journal ceases publication, ASFIRJ implements the following archiving and preservation measures:
- Secure Digital Backup: All published content is regularly backed up and stored on secure, ASFIRJ redundant server to prevent data loss.
- Repository Indexing and Accessibility: Where applicable, ASFIRJ supports theclusion of its articles established repositories anddexing platforms (e.g.,stitutional repositories and subject-based archives) to enhance discoverability and redundancy.
- Persistent Identifiers: All articles are assigned persistent identifiers (such as DOIs), ensuring stable and reliable access over time.
In the event that ASFIRJ is no longer published, all journal content will remain accessible through its archiving partners and repositories, ensuring that the scholarly record is preserved and remains permanently available.
